History

They invite you to explore the many facets of their program, their research and their annual community service projects. As a full academic department in a community hospital-based medical school, they strive to graduate highly competent and compassionate practitioners in emergency medicine. Their program encompasses clinical and didactic experience in emergency and critical care medicine, emergency department and emergency medical services administration, toxicology, teaching techniques, sports medicine and principles of research and publication. A curious and problem-oriented attitude is fostered by innovative teaching, case analysis, cooperative research and faculty role models. Confidence is promoted through active evaluation and feedback.

The Emergency Medicine Residency is an integrated program, supported by area hospitals, including Dayton Children's Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, Kettering Medical Center, Miami Valley Hospital and Wright-Patterson Medical Center.

The department was a cosponsor of the first Basic and Advanced Disaster Life Support training programs held in the state of Ohio in February 2004. They are actively engaged in teaching, research and service at all levels.
