University of Texas School of Medicine at San Antonio

History

UTHealth San Antonio and the University Hospital System together make an internationally prominent center of educational innovation and medical training. At UT Health San Antonio, we are dedicated to health equity and bringing good medicine to hard places: whether that is in health deserts, global missions, or austere environments. The mission of the Residency Program is to train emergency physicians who will provide exceptional, compassionate patient care, conduct collaborative, innovative research, and to become life-long learners who deliver career defining education. We are about providing great medical care in whatever environment we may find ourselves to those in great need. We believe in training in low-resource settings, so that graduates will be able to provide excellent care in challenging environments. As a city with a strong Hispanic and multicultural history, we approach everything in our department from our motto: TACOS (Teamwork, Accountability, Compassion, Opportunity, Service).
