History

The Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine - Scott & White Emergency Medicine Residency is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). This is a three-year program offers access to 32 full-time faculty with a resident:faculty ratio of 1:5.

Scott & White Medical Center – Temple is a 640-bed teaching and research hospital as well as the only Level 1 Trauma Center and tertiary care referral center between Dallas and Austin. Combined with Baylor Scott & White McLane Children's Medical Center's pediatric emergency department, the emergency departments see approximately 102,000 patients per year. Classes consist of 14 residents per year.

  • Emergency Medicine - 6.5 months
  • Trauma - 1 month
  • Medical ICU - 1 month
  • Internal Medicine - 1 month
  • Anesthesia/Ultrasound - 1 month
  • Obstetrics & Gynecology - 2 weeks
  • Orthopedics - 2 weeks

PGY2

  • Emergency Medicine - 8 months
  • Surgical ICU - 1 month
  • Pediatric ICU - 1 month
  • Pediatric Anesthesia/Ultrasound - 1 month
  • Emergency Medicine Administration - 1 month

PGY3

  • Emergency Medicine - 9 months
  • Emergency Medicine Administration - 2 months
  • Surgical ICU – 1 month

Electives

Electives can be pursued during Emergency Medicine Administration months.
