Riverside Regional Medical Center
History
Since 1935, physician education has been a major focus for Riverside Regional Medical Center. Centrally located in Newport News, Virginia and established in 2020, the RRMC Emergency Medicine Residency strives to fully encompass the Riverside Care Difference, our commitment to safety, healing, kindness and respect.
The residency is a PGY 1-3 year program with 8 residents per year. Our Emergency Medicine Residency prides itself on clinical experience and acuity, faculty and mentorship and the educational resources and innovations provided to the residents. Riverside's Emergency Medicine Residency is a firmly established program within a health system devoted to physician education, development, and excellence.

Training Locations
Primary Hospital
Riverside Regional Medical Center is a comprehensive medical facility in the region, offering advanced diagnostics and emergency treatment. We offer the Peninsula's only Level II Trauma Center and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. We are also recognized as a Chest Pain Center and a Comprehensive Stroke Center. Our services include advanced treatment in neurosciences, heart and cancer.

Curriculum
Each academic year consists of 13 blocks of 4 weeks each. Each block of emergency medicine includes not only shifts in our main emergency department at Riverside Regional, but also longitudinal shifts of pediatric emergency medicine at Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters (CHKD).
