Kettering Health Dayton (Grandview Medical Center)

The Kettering Health Dayton Emergency Medicine residency prides itself on training competent and compassionate emergency physicians. It is located at Kettering Health Dayton, formerly known as Grandview Medical Center, one of the oldest osteopathic teaching hospitals in the country, with a total of 130 residents in various specialties training on its campus. The medical center itself is a 317 bed level III trauma center with the residents also rotating through Grant Medical Center in Columbus, OH for additional trauma experience as well as Dayton Children's Hospital (Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center) for their pediatric ED exposure. Dayton Children's Hospital has also become the home of Shriner's hospital from Cincinnati, offering increase opportunity for pediatric burn exposure. Initially an osteopathic residency accredited through the American Osteopathic Association, it is now accepting MD applicants and is accredited through the ACGME.

Mission Statement

The Grandview EM residency program strives to produce competent, compassionate physicians who have achieved excellence in clinical practice, academic pursuits, and service to their community. Excellent clinical skills will grow from the resident's active involvement in an ED that offers a large and diverse patient population and residency programs in the specialties relevant to EM training. Academic achievement of residents, both in teaching and research, will develop through mentoring by EM faculty. We are committed to creating an environment where the highest standards of emergency medical care are consistently taught, practiced, and monitored. We are determined to focus on important social, ethical, behavioral, and organizational aspects of emergency health care.
