Administration

Adult Dosing

  • Intranasal: 2 sprays/nostril daily
  • Aerosol: 88-880 mcg BID
  • Powder (inhaled): 100-1000 mcg BID
  • Topical application: 1-2 times daily

Contraindications

  • Allergy to class/drug
  • Severe hypersensitivity to milk proteins
  • Primary treatment of acute asthma exacerbation

Adverse Reactions

Serious

  • Secondary hypocortisolism
  • Glaucoma, elevated ICP
  • Pneumonia

Common

  • Oral or esophageal candidiasis
  • Nausea/vomiting
  • Headache
  • Osteoporosis
  • Cough, URI symptoms
  • Epistaxis

  • Half-life: 3.2-11.2h
  • Metabolism: Hepatic CYP3A4
  • Excretion: Fecal

  • Glucocorticoid, anti-inflammatory
