Adult Dosing
- 15-30mg daily
Pediatric Dosing
- Age 1-11 years, weight <30kg: 15mg daily
- Age >1 year, weight >30kg: 15-30mg daily
Special Populations
- Pregnancy Rating: B
- Lactation risk: Infant risk cannot be ruled out
- Renal dosing: no adjustment
- Hepatic dosing: if severe, consider dose reduction

- Allergy to class/drug
Adverse Reactions
Serious
- C. difficile diarrhea
- SJS/TEN
- Rhabdomyolysis
- Interstitial nephritis
- Fracture
- Hypomagnesemia
Common
- Abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, constipation
- Headache
Pharmacology
- Half-life: 1.5-3 hours
- Metabolism: Hepatic
- Excretion: Mostly biliary/fecal
Mechanism of Action
- Inhibits gastric parietal cell H+/K+ proton pump, leading to decreased gastric acid secretion
