Adult Dosing
- 1mcg/kg bolus for acute pain
- .25-5 mcg/kg/hr (titrate q20min) for maintenance analgesia
Pediatric Dosing
- 1mcg/kg bolus for acute pain
- .25-5 mcg/kg/hr (titrate q20min) for maintenance analgesia

Pregnancy Rating
- Prolonged use of opioid analgesics during pregnancy may cause neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome
Lactation risk
- Risk is unknown
Renal Dosing
- Adult: Pharmacodynamics are not affected by renal dysfunction
- Pediatric: Pharmacodynamics are not affected by renal dysfunction
Hepatic Dosing
- Adult: Pharmacodynamics are not affected by liverdysfunction

Mechanism of Action
Opiod mu receptor agonist that unlike other opioids is plasma metabolized irrespective of hepatic function.
