Background

  • Winnipeg is a city of 750,000 people and is the capital of Manitoba. The two major teaching hospitals act as a major referral center for the entire province of 1.2 million people, as well as parts of Northern Ontario, Nunavut and Saskatchewan.
  • This is a 5-year Royal College accredited training program leading to specialist certification (FRCPC) in Emergency Medicine.
  • Academic day is full-day protected time off clinical duties and takes place once a week.
  • There are approximately 4 residents per cohort.
  • Come July 2018, the residency program will be transitioning to the new competency-based medical education curriculum.
