Hennepin County Medical Center
History
The Emergency Medicine residency at Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) was founded in 1972. It was the second emergency medicine residency program founded in the nation. The Emergency Department (ED) has more than 50 standard care rooms and 4 stabilization bays. There are > 100,000 patient presentations to the ED annually. There is a long history of bedside ultrasound at HCMC, starting in the mid 1980s.
