History

Baystate Medical Center (BMC), in Springfield, MA, is an academic, research, and teaching hospital and the first regional campus of the University of Massachusetts Medical School (UMMS). Baystate Medical Center is a 716-bed facility with an Emergency Department that boasts over 122,000 visits per year. Baystate Medical Center is the only Level 1 trauma center in Western Massachusetts, treating the most critical and urgent cases in the region. BMC is home to the second-busiest emergency department in Massachusetts.

    • Baystate offers a 1-year Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship. The fellowship director is Gavin Budhram, MD.
  • Research Fellowship
    • Baystate offers a 1- or 2-year Research Fellowship, which includes advanced training and mentorship in research methodology. The fellowship directors are Timothy Mader, MD and Lauren Westafer, DO.
  • Wilderness Fellowship
    • Baystate offers a 1-year Wilderness Medicine Fellowship. The fellowship director is Benjamin Church, DO.
