- Gram negative organism ransmitted through dog bites
- Risk factors:
- Splenectomy
- Hyposplenism
- Alcoholism
- Presents commonly as septic shock, multiorgan system failure, gangrene, meningitis
- Supportive therapy, antibiotics
- Mortality 26-30%
