Background

Ultrasound of soft tissue and musculoskeletal structures can be helpful in diagnosing conditions without needing x-ray, CT, or other imaging modalities

Types and Uses

Ultrasound: Soft tissue

  1. Cellulitis
  2. Abscess
  3. Soft tissue foreign body

Ultrasound: Bone

  1. Fractures

Ultrasound: Tendons

  1. Tendon rupture

Ultrasound: Joint

  1. Joint effusion
  2. Dislocation
  3. Gout
