CT if any one of the following:

  • Abnormal CXR
  • Abnormal CXR
  • Distracting injury
  • Tenderness of:
    • Chest wall
    • Sternum
    • Thoracic spine
    • Scapula
  • Rapid deceleration mechanism

Sensitivity

  • 99% for major injuries
  • 95% for minor injuries
