SNRI Toxicity

Background

• Inhibit reuptake of serotonin and norepinephrine (venlafaxine, duloxetine)
• Although produce more symptoms in overdose compared to SSRIs, still extremely safe

Clinical Features

• Sympathomimetic: tachycardia, hypertension, diaphoresis, tremor, mydriasis
• Sedation
• Seizure
• ECG
  • Sinus tachycardia

Treatment

1. GI decontamination
   1. Activatec charcoal x1

Disposition

• Admit all symptomatic pts to a monitored bed
• All pts require at least 6hr of observation
