Background

  • Limited to forearm and lower leg long bones
  • The diaphysis of the long bone is deformed but the periosteum is preserved

Clinical Features

Differential Diagnosis

Diagnosis

  • X-ray findings are subtle (no fracture line)
    • Will show abnormal curvature
    • Bowing or bending
    • Helpful to compare to uninvolved extremity

Treatment

  • Ortho consult
    • Difficult to reduce (usually requires completion of the fx)
    • Proper reduction and realignment is essential
