Trauma

  1. 5mg haldol + benadryl 50mg IV/IM
  2. 5mg haldol
  3. 5mg haldol
  4. then ativan

Psych

  1. 2mg cogentin
  2. 50mg benadryl
  3. 2mg ativan

Pediatric Chemical Sedation

  1. Anti-histamine (first line):
    1. Diphenhydramine at 1 mg/kg/dose IM (max 50 mg)
  2. Typical antipsychotics (second line):
    1. Haloperidol at 0.025-0.075 mg/kg/dose IM (max 2.5 if < 12 years; 2-5 mg if > 12 years)
  3. Atypical antipsychotics (third line):
    1. Risperidone at 0.01 mg/kg/dose IM (typically 0.25-4 mg/dose)
  4. Benzodiazepines reserved for children that do not respond to above agents
