Indications by Disease

Special Populations

  • Pregnancy Rating: Category C, fetal risk cannot be ruled out
  • Lactation risk: infant risk cannot be ruled out
  • Renal dosing
    • CrCl 40-59 mL/min: 450 mg BID
    • CrCl 25-39 mL/min: 450 mg once daily
    • CrCl 10-24 mL/min: 450 mg every 2 days
    • CrCl < 10 mL/min or on HD: not recommended
  • Hepatic dosing:

  • Half-life: 4-10h
  • Metabolism: Hepatic

Mechanism of Action

  • Inhibits viral DNA synthesis
