# Acute hypoxemic or hypercarbic respiratory failure NOT responsive to conventional therapies

* SBP <90 mmHg and requiring initiation or escalation of vasopressors
* SBP >180 mmHg OR DBP >120 mmHg AND end-organ dysfunction

# Acute decrease in GCS OR encephalopathy of new onset without identifiable etiology
