Hey John, glad to see you editingTry to make references specific either a textbook chapter and edition or using a specific article after the statement either <ref> </ref> tags placed around the citation. The wiki will then generate the footnote.

John, we can use templates to abstract content and then embed in other articles.  the vaccine schedule might be useful as a template.
 
You can insert <nowiki>{{TemplateName}}</nowiki into articles to bring in that content.
