History

Henry Ford Hospital operates one of the busiest Level 1 Trauma centers in Michigan with over 100,000 patient visits. The Henry Ford Hospital Emergency Department is a nationally recognized leader in patient care, education and research. We have been educating Emergency Medicine residents in this autonomous environment since 1976 with a long legacy of successful graduates practicing across the country and world.

Three educational programs are offered: a 3-year Categorical Emergency Medicine program, a 5-year Combined Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine (EM/IM), and a 6 year Combined Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Critical Care (EM/IM/CC) program. There are 55 faculty and 55 residents in the department; 45 are categorical, eight are EM/IM, and two are EM/IM/CC. There are multiple faculty with fellowship training in areas such as EM-CCM, EM-IM-CCM, EM-EMS, EM-Peds, EM-Palliative, EM-Sports who spend a majority of time teaching in the department.

The Emergency Department is looking for highly motivated residents who are committed to a career in Emergency Medicine and want to train in a stimulating and challenging environment with state-of-the-art patient care techniques.
